Pitching Tips For Any Golfer

Pitching Tips For Any Golfer

Many golfers confuse pitching and chipping as the same
thing. Making this mistake can be detrimental to your game.
Pitching will let the golf ball have more air time than a
chip shot. Golfers generally take a pitch shot when they
want to shoot over a bunker or when the grass is too deep
to chip out.

The pitching shot is not hard to master; once you have
practiced the basics, your pitching shot will separate
itself from your chip shot.

Many golfers have a tendency to avoid the pitch shot
because they don't know the basics.

So let's go over the basics:

1. A pitch shot is a lofted shot that will fly further
than it will roll.

2. The best club to use for a pitch shot is a lofted club;
usually a lob wedge, sand wedge, or pitching wedge.

3. Golfers should use an open stance with their feet close
together.

4. The golf ball should be positioned in the center of
the stance.

5. The backswing of the golfer's shot can be waist-high or
even a full-swing. This will depend on the length of the
shot.

6. The golfer's should turn his legs and body to turn
slightly through the shot.

When you use a pitch shot, remember to practice with the
waist-high and full swing to become more familiar with the
different length shots that may come up when you are out on
the course.

All this information may seem tough to translate into
action, but it is important that you master it if you want
to improve your game. I personally suggest you have someone
watch you and give you advice based on the suggestions I
made above.

Try to remember that the further away the green is, the
more power you will have to give the shot and the further
the club will have to go on your backswing.
